  • The streambed may give evidence of stream-quality conditions and origins.

  • For example, gray sediment may indicate passage through shale strata and red sediment the influence of sandstone.

  • Filamentous algae likely results from nutrients entering the stream due to runoff from grazing.

  • The streambed may be modified by scouring from high flows and as a result of the occasional arrival of nutrients and a stream's seasonal response to them.

  • Views of streambed conditions are shown during low flows and with algae coverings.
